MUP KS Operation: Largest Hashish Seizure in BiH Since 2004!

In two separate operations, Piz and Gandža, the MUP of Canton Sarajevo seized over five kilograms of drugs yesterday, reports the news agency Patria.

Police officers from the Department for Combating Narcotic Drug Abuse, on Hamid Beširević Street, conducted a personal search of H.M. and M.A. from Sarajevo. During the search, 10 packages containing a substance resembling the narcotic drug amphetamine, six packages containing a substance resembling the narcotic drug hashish, and a mobile phone were found and seized from H.M. From M.A., one package containing a substance resembling the narcotic drug marijuana and two lumps of a substance resembling the narcotic drug hashish were found and seized.

Based on an order from the Municipal Court in Sarajevo, two houses used by H.M. in the Centar Sarajevo municipality were searched. During the search, approximately 3.5 kilograms of a substance resembling the narcotic drug amphetamine and approximately 1.65 kilograms of a substance resembling the narcotic drug hashish, one package with herbaceous material resembling the narcotic drug marijuana, and equipment for repackaging narcotic drugs were found and seized from him.

As stated at the MUP KS press conference, this is the largest hashish seizure since 2004, when 400 grams were found. The press conference was attended by the Minister of MUP of Canton Sarajevo Ismir Jusko, Police Commissioner Vahid Ćosić, and MUP KS spokesperson Irfan Nefić. As they emphasized, it is fortunate that these drugs did not end up on the streets of Sarajevo.

H.M. was deprived of his liberty due to grounds for suspicion of committing the criminal offense of unauthorized production and trafficking of narcotic drugs under Article 238, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. After the completion of the criminal investigation, on December 18, 2015, H.M. will be handed over to the jurisdiction of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office in Sarajevo along with a report on the committed criminal offense, while a report will be submitted to the competent prosecutor's office against M.A. due to grounds for suspicion of committing the criminal offense of possession and enabling the use of narcotic drugs under Article 239, Paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In the second operation codenamed "Gandža" on Butmirska cesta Street, Ilidža municipality, a personal search of V.R. and S.M. from Sarajevo was conducted. During the search, one package containing about 15 grams of a substance resembling the narcotic drug amphetamine, one package with herbaceous material resembling the narcotic drug marijuana, and a Mini Glock pistol, caliber 7.65 mm, with an empty magazine, for which he does not possess a permit from the competent authority, were found and seized from V.R. From S.M., one package with herbaceous material resembling the narcotic drug marijuana and one package with a substance resembling the narcotic drug amphetamine were found and seized.

Based on an order from the Municipal Court in Sarajevo, an apartment used by V.R. in the Ilidža municipality was searched, as well as a passenger motor vehicle used by him. Approximately 145 grams of a substance resembling the narcotic drug marijuana, 15 grams of a substance resembling the narcotic drug amphetamine, travel documents in someone else's name, and equipment for repackaging narcotic drugs were found and seized.

V.R. was deprived of his liberty due to grounds for suspicion of committing the criminal offenses of unauthorized production and trafficking of narcotic drugs under Article 238, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Article 52 of ZONDINOIM. After the completion of the criminal investigation, on December 18, 2015, V.R. will be handed over to the jurisdiction of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office in Sarajevo along with a report on the committed criminal offenses, while a report will be submitted to the competent prosecutor's office against S.M. due to grounds for suspicion of committing the criminal offense of possession and enabling the use of narcotic drugs under Article 239, Paragraph 3 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Marijuana, amphetamine, and drug repackaging equipment were found with the second individual, S.M.

As stated by MUP KS, the preparation for these operations lasted three months.

The value of the seized hashish is approximately KM 200,000, and the speed is KM 35,000.

Irfan Nefić, spokesperson for MUP KS, pointed out that the arrested individuals are known to the police and have criminal records.
