Operation Mohito: Bosnian also part of dangerous drug cartel, Nova TV journalist was the main courier

Jasmin Merdžanović from BiH is one of those arrested in the Croatian police operation codenamed Mohito, which dismantled a Balkan drug cartel and led to the arrest of 10 people with whom more than 700 grams of cocaine and speed were found, reports the Patria News Agency.

The organizer and head of the group was Jovica Tomljenović (46), a Serb born in Germany, who obtained Croatian citizenship about ten years ago. Former security guard Dragan Malogajski (46), owner of the cafe "TNT" in Zaprešić, who was convicted in Zadar for cocaine four years ago, was also arrested.

Among those arrested are father and son Željko (49) and Benjamin Šuliček (21) from Brdovec, in whose house and at a fishpond in Martinska Ves components for producing amphetamine were mixed. In Zadar, Goran Vitlov (52) nicknamed Sisak was detained, who was already arrested in February for possession of 48 grams of cocaine.

The remaining members of the drug chain are aged between 27 and 49, including Nova TV journalist Saša Knežić, who, according to research findings, acted as the main courier and operative.

Other arrested individuals include Miodrag Veselinović from Serbia, who is already in custody in Remetinec, and Nenad Laško, for whom the group members paid a bail of 25,000 euros after he was arrested in March at the Harmica border crossing with 534 grams of cocaine.

During the operation, the police seized 752 grams of cocaine, a small amount of amphetamine, but also three liters of so-called amphetamine oil, which is a novelty in the criminal underworld, as well as a small amount of marijuana, 4 grams of amphetamine, 1.25 liters of sulfuric acid, 14.5 kilograms of caffeine, 600 grams of creatine, 5 liters of methyl alcohol, three scales, and 166 rounds of ammunition of various calibers.

Dražen Miličević, head of the Drug Crime Service at the Zagreb Police Department, stated at a press conference that the operation lasted from November 2014 to June 2015.

It is suspected that the group members "covered" the area from Germany, through Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, BiH, and Serbia.
