Operation Hunter: Detention requested for two border police officers

(Patria) - After questioning the suspects, the acting prosecutor of the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH submitted a request to the Court of BiH for detention of two suspects. Detention has been requested for the suspects: Goran Milošević, known as “Gogo”, born in 1973 in Bileća, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a police officer of the BiH Border Police, and Svetozar Kašiković, known as “Sveto”, born in 1983 in Trebinje, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a police officer of the BiH Border Police.

Detention has been requested for the suspects for reasons stipulated by Article 132, Paragraph 1, Points b) and c) of the Criminal Procedure Code of BiH, namely due to a well-founded fear that, if released, they might destroy, hide, alter, or falsify evidence or traces important for the criminal proceedings, and that their release might lead to the commission of further criminal offenses.

The suspects are under investigation by the Prosecutor's Office of BiH and are suspected of committing criminal offenses of association for the purpose of committing criminal offenses, in connection with criminal offenses of smuggling, illegal trade in excise goods, abuse of official position or authority, and receiving gifts and other benefits, as defined by the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

These individuals were apprehended in yesterday's operation called “Hunter”, aimed at detecting and prosecuting an organized criminal group that has been operating in the area of Bileća and its surroundings for a longer period, and the operation was carried out on the order of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH.

Based on the investigation results, the suspects are accused of abusing their official positions, during the performance of their duties and working hours, to enable other suspects to smuggle excise and other goods across the state border from the Republic of Montenegro into Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Prosecutor's Office of BiH continues intensive work on the case.
