Operation Courier: Five suspects remain in custody

The Cantonal Court in Sarajevo, at the proposal of the acting prosecutor of the KS Prosecutor's Office, ordered one-month custody for five individuals arrested in the Courier operation carried out on Tuesday in Sarajevo, reports the Patria agency.

Custody was ordered for lawyers Ismet Hamzić, Esad Hrvačić, Samina Skopak, as well as Zaim Spahović and Muamer Pito due to the risk of influencing witnesses, concealing evidence, and the risk of re-offending.

For Selma Taraniš and Vildana Ligate, restrictive measures have been proposed: a ban on leaving their place of residence and a ban on contact with witnesses, and a decision is still pending.

The arrested individuals are charged with the criminal offense of organized crime by obtaining judgments before the Municipal Court in Sarajevo and thereby illegally transferring ownership of about 70 properties in the Sarajevo Canton, thus acquiring significant unlawful property benefits for themselves and others.

The operation itself was preceded by long pre-investigative and investigative actions that lasted for more than a year.
