Operation 'Kontakt' not over: Several more arrests expected

SARAJevo, (Patria) - The operation "Kontakt", conducted under the supervision of the KS Prosecutor's Office by police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, is not yet over, it has been confirmed for Patria from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton Police Administration.  

As confirmed, searches at several locations are still ongoing, and the apprehension of several more individuals is expected. 

Previously, 31 individuals, including six police officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, were brought to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton for criminal processing. They are expected to be handed over to the jurisdiction of the KS Prosecutor's Office tomorrow. 

The "Kontakt" operation is the result of a multi-month investigation and intensive work to shed light on and document several criminal offenses for which members of an organized criminal group are suspected.

Since the early morning hours, searches have been conducted at a total of 38 locations based on previously obtained orders from the Municipal Court in Sarajevo, with 29 locations in the Sarajevo Canton area and 9 in the areas of East Sarajevo and Trebinje, respectively.

The individuals under investigation by the KS Prosecutor's Office are suspected of having formed a group that, in the past period, staged traffic accidents to collect damages from insurance companies, with the assistance of several members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton. Some police officers are also suspected of taking bribes for traffic violations in the KS area during the period of special investigative actions, in addition to the aforementioned. Several insurance companies have been damaged.
