Operation "Kolt": Two arrested for cocaine smuggling into BiH

By order of the BiH Prosecutor's Office, an operation codenamed "Kolt" was carried out, during which two individuals were arrested in the Bijeljina area, suspected of organized smuggling of larger quantities of the narcotic drug cocaine, in the area of BiH and the region.

Significant cooperation was achieved within the operation with police and judicial institutions of the Republic of Serbia, where certain searches and investigative activities were also carried out, so the operation "Kolt" represents an example of good and intensive regional cooperation.

Employees of the BiH Prosecutor's Office, an investigator, and an expert associate, within the preparation of activities, stayed in the territory of Serbia and actively participated in locating and uncovering the perpetrators of these criminal offenses.

In a well-planned and operationally executed action by prosecutors, investigators, and police on the ground, in the area of BiH, during a simulated handover, Medić Rajko, born in 1965 in Novi Travnik, and Marenović Dragoslav, born on 25.01.1955 in Kraljevo, Serbia, were arrested. The arrests were carried out by members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RS.

In this case, the BiH Prosecutor's Office conducted an extensive and coordinated investigation in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RS, police agencies in BiH, and partner agencies in neighboring countries, with the aim of identifying and prosecuting individuals involved in the smuggling of the hard narcotic drug cocaine, of extremely high purity, in the region.

Following the investigation and investigative actions in BiH and Serbia, the suspects Medić Rajko and Marenović Dragoslav were arrested. They are under investigation for the criminal offense of organized crime and unauthorized trafficking of narcotic drugs. During the activities that preceded the arrest and the arrest itself, a quantity of about 400 grams of the narcotic drug cocaine, of extremely high purity, was seized, with a value exceeding 40,000 KM on the illegal drug market, and up to three times more on the street drug market. In Serbia, a pistol with a silencer was found during the searches.

The collected evidence indicates that the mentioned individuals are part of an organized network of smugglers of this narcotic drug, which supplies the illegal drug market in Serbia, BiH, Hungary, and Romania with cocaine, and that they are in contact with dealer groups and individuals who form this network.

The operation "Kolt" has dealt a serious blow to drug smuggling structures involved in the smuggling of hard narcotic drugs, the smuggling of which extends to countries in the region and the EU.

The BiH Prosecutor's Office, together with partner institutions in BiH, countries of the region, and the EU, continues its activities in the fight against international drug smuggling.
