UIO inspectors' operation in Tuzla: 100.6 kg of tobacco and almost four thousand packs of cigarettes seized

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - In the conditions of the state of emergency caused by the Covid 19 virus, authorized officers of the Indirect Taxation Authority are conducting intensified activities in the field to prevent the illegal sale of tobacco and tobacco products.

Thus, in the area of the city of Tuzla, 3,980 packs of various cigarettes and 100.6 kg of tobacco were seized.

Authorized officers of the Indirect Taxation Authority, Group for Prevention of Smuggling and Offences RC Tuzla, based on operational work and undertaken operational tactical measures, found out that in the area of the city of Tuzla there are several individuals engaged in the sale of cigarettes and cut tobacco, originating from neighboring countries.

A search of vehicles and located facilities was carried out, all in accordance with the instructions and directives of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH and the order of the Court of BiH, and during the operation, 3,980 packs of various cigarettes marked with foreign excise stamps, as well as 100.6 kilograms of tobacco were found.

The total value of the temporarily seized goods is approximately BAM 38,000.00.

A report on the committed criminal offense will be filed with the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina against four suspects, due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that they committed the criminal offense of Illegal trade in excise products, under Article 210a of the Law on Amendments to the Criminal Code of BiH ("Official Gazette of BiH", No. 08/10).

In the field activities, authorized UIO officers used specialized equipment donated to the Authority by the Government of the USA through the EXBS Program.
