Arrest operation in Sarajevo: Extorted 100,000 BAM from a businessman

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Police officers of the Federal Police Administration under the supervision of the Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton, and with the engagement of the Special Police Unit of the FUP, carried out an operational action codenamed COINTS in the area of Sarajevo, related to the criminal offenses of robbery and extortion.

Within the mentioned action, and according to the orders of the Municipal Court in Sarajevo, searches of residential buildings at five locations in the Sarajevo Canton area were carried out, and three persons were arrested, namely a citizen of Serbia from Peć - Kosovo, initials E. R. (28), who is known to the police authorities as a repeat offender for serious criminal offenses, and two persons from Sarajevo, initials A. Ć. (27) and B. D. (24).

During the search, a car worth almost 40,000 BAM, a certain amount of money, a substance that resembles the narcotic drug cannabis in appearance, and other items originating from or related to the criminal offenses in question were found.

The arrested persons are suspected of having committed robbery in June 2018 to the detriment of the owner of a private company from Sarajevo, after which they extorted about 100,000 BAM from him. Furthermore, the same persons are suspected of preparing to extort the same person again until the realization of this operational action, for a sum of 120,000 BAM.

The arrested persons were taken to the official premises of the Federal Police Administration for criminal processing, after which person B. D., according to the order of the acting prosecutor, was released, while E. R. and A. Ć. will be handed over to the Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton within the legal deadline, along with a report on the committed criminal offense.
