FUP Operation Against Arms Smuggling from BiH to EU Countries

BiH, (Patria) - On the order of the BiH Prosecutor's Office, police officers of the Federal Police Administration (FUP) are conducting activities and searches at several locations in the area of Central Bosnia Canton and Tuzla Canton. The activities are being carried out with the aim of finding weapons from the past war, which are being smuggled from BiH to EU countries, in order to be sold on the black market and used for committing criminal offenses.

Police authorities in the Republic of Slovenia stopped and arrested a BiH citizen and prevented an attempt to smuggle 25 automatic rifles intended for the illegal arms market in EU countries.

- Following cooperation and coordination with colleagues from Slovenia, activities and searches were carried out in BiH to uncover the origin of the illegal weapons, as well as to locate and identify all persons in BiH and outside BiH who were involved in the commission of this criminal offense. Investigative activities are ongoing - it was announced from the BiH Prosecutor's Office.
