(Patria) - The FBiH Banking Agency announced that it is taking control of Sberbank BH. As stated at an extraordinary press conference, citizens who are clients of this bank have no reason to worry.
"We are doing this to protect depositors, our citizens, companies, and the state. These measures are not directed against anyone. They aim to protect BiH," said the Agency's Director Jasmin Mahmuzić.
He added that this is a healthy, well-liquid bank, and they did not want external factors to jeopardize the bank's operations and jobs within it.
"This bank has a significant impact on the economy in BiH. The measures are effective as of today. Sberbank will open its branches tomorrow and continue to operate," Mahmuzić stated.
He asked clients for understanding and to trust that Sberbank is stable. He emphasized that only we within BiH can create a problem through panic.
"We have resolved the SWIFT issue, and the bank can conduct payment transactions," he pointed out.
