(Patria) - An exhibition of paintings and graphics by artists Azra Fazlić Švrakić and Dženana Taso was held in the foyer of the Vogošća Cultural and Sports Center as part of the Promoting Young Artists project implemented by the Demos Association from Vogošća. The exhibition was opened by Haris Ćutahija, program coordinator of the Demos Association, who emphasized that this project is an effort to promote young educated artists.
"In the cacophony of content in the public sphere, especially on social networks, young artists who are educating themselves to truly be artists simply cannot get noticed. The question arises who is to blame for this. Are cultural institutions or even local communities that rarely organize such promotions to blame, or the artists themselves due to a lack of initiative? The Demos Association plans to address these questions at a round table to be organized at the conclusion of the project. We will send a set of conclusions to all relevant institutions. What I can say at this moment is the following - organizing such promotions and exhibitions is not strenuous; we from Demos enjoyed all the project activities," concluded Ćutahija.
Azra Fazlić Švrakić, a postgraduate student at the Academy of Fine Arts, spoke about her exhibited works.
“I can say that it is a cohesive body of work aimed at solving the artistic problem of light in composition, texture, and tone, through the motif of self-portraits and figures visible in all works. I most often touch upon the issues of the passage of time and physical beauty. Other compositions also address the relationship between youth and old age. Besides solving the artistic problem, I have achieved the satisfaction of expressing my thoughts through my own image. I believe that sincerity is the most important thing in art, and I think I have succeeded in fulfilling that task of art,” concluded Fazlić Švrakić.
Dženana Taso, also a postgraduate student at the Academy of Fine Arts, said about her exhibited works that she mainly finds inspiration in segments of nature and what is hidden beneath the
surface. “I often paint figures in nature, relying on realism and elements of abstraction, thus creating an effect that imposes itself on the viewer as a visual creation of my inner being. Moving from the representational to the abstract, I use my personal vocabulary of fluid traces and organic images to express the sensual pleasure and ephemeral quality of the natural world,” concludes Taso.
The opening of the exhibition was attended by about a hundred people, including ninth-grade students from the “Zajko Delić” Primary School. This exhibition is part of the “Promoting Young Artists” project, which the Demos Association implements under the auspices of the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Municipality of Vogošća, and BH Telecom. Demos’ partners also include RTV Vogošća and KSC Vogošća.
