Bosnalijek Affair: Šukalo admitted guilt for money laundering, received money from Uzunović which he transferred to other accounts

(Patria) - Defendant in the "Bosnalijek" case Aziz Šukalo has mutually admitted guilt, and a fine, prison sentence, and confiscation and return of illegal gains in the amount of approximately 500,000 KM have been proposed.

Defendant Šukalo Aziz, born in 1958 in Foča, a citizen of BiH, in the presence of his lawyer, fully admitted guilt and concluded an agreement on admitting guilt with the prosecutor of the BiH Prosecutor's Office.

By signing the agreement on admitting guilt, the defendant fully admitted to committing the criminal offense of organized crime in connection with the criminal offense of money laundering, for which he is charged by the indictment of the BiH Prosecutor's Office.

In accordance with the mutual admission, a prison sentence of one year has been proposed for the defendant, as well as a secondary fine in the amount of 73,000 KM.

Illegal property gains in the amount of 460,374.38 KM are confiscated from the defendant. The defendant has already paid the amount of 100,000 KM upon concluding the agreement, and will pay the remainder within the deadline set by the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The defendant admitted that, as an official of the company's management and a member of an organized crime group, with the intention of concealing the real source, nature, and origin of the money and illegally introducing it into legal financial flows, he received large sums of money on multi-currency accounts opened in several banks, from the defendant Uzunović Nedim and natural and legal persons connected to him, which he managed, as well as transferred to accounts of persons close to him. Payments were received from accounts from the British Virgin Islands, Cyprus, and Croatia.

The proposed sentence is in accordance with the defendant's role and responsibility, as well as the scope of the criminal offense for which he is charged.

By mutually admitting guilt, the defendant waived his right to a trial and his right to appeal the verdict that the BiH Court will pronounce based on the agreement.

The agreement has been forwarded to the BiH Court.
