Attorney Ibrišimović for NAP: No grounds for the BiH Prosecutor's Office to request detention for Mahmuljin

The arrest of retired general Sabik Mahmuljin has stirred passions in the public, and many claim that this arrest is in some way an attempt to equate the role of the aggressor and those who defended BiH, writes the Patria news agency.

As Mahmuljin's attorney Fahrudin Ibrišimović told us, the position of the BiH Prosecutor's Office on whether detention will eventually be requested is expected tonight or tomorrow morning.

- For now, we do not have such a request, but that does not mean there will not be one. As the defense, we believe there are no grounds for detention, but at this moment that is all we can say – said Ibrišimović.

He added that Mahmuljin is currently in the detention unit and expects further steps from the BiH Prosecutor's Office.

We remind you, on the order of the BiH Prosecutor's Office, former commander of the 3rd Corps of the ARBiH, Sakib Mahmuljin, was deprived of his liberty this morning, charged with war crimes committed by the „El Mudžahidin“ unit.

The suspect is under investigation and is suspected of acting contrary to the provisions of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions in his capacity as commander of the 3rd Corps of the Army of the Republic of BiH.
