Lawyer Hrvačić agrees to one year in prison and a fine

Lawyer Esad Hrvačić, who is accused in the "Kurir" case for illegal property registration, has agreed to one year in prison and a fine of 10,000 marks through a plea agreement signed with the Prosecutor's Office, it was stated at the Sarajevo Cantonal Court, Detektor.ba reports, as conveyed by the Patria News Agency.

At the hearing held to consider the agreement, it was stated that Hrvačić agreed to a ban on practicing law for a year and a half, as well as the confiscation of illicit gains amounting to 47,520 convertible marks (KM) acquired through criminal acts.

Prosecutor Sabina Sarajlija presented a number of material evidence on which the accused's guilt is based, adding that these include items found during the search of the lawyer's office, court files, expert examination results, and other evidence.

"A large number of evidence was collected during the investigation, and the indictment includes 11 individuals. Through the agreement, the accused has committed to compensating the damages to those who have filed property claims," said Sarajlija.

The defense briefly stated that they stand by the concluded agreement.

The court panel has taken over the material documentation to review it before the next hearing, before a decision is made on accepting the agreement.

Hrvačić was previously indicted along with lawyers Ismet Hamzić and Samina Skopak, judge of the Sarajevo Municipal Court Milena Rajić, court employees Tanja Jović, Branko Husanović, Zaim Spahović, Muamer Pito and Mirsad Alić, as well as Elmin Džino and Pero Vuković, but his case was separated due to the signing of the plea agreement.

He is charged with association for the commission of criminal offenses, abuse of position or authority, and forgery of an official document.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, due to the illegal registration of their clients' property through the forgery of delivery notes in the names of the defendants, lawyer Hrvačić conspired with court couriers Spahović and Pito, and his professional associate Džino, and they facilitated the issuance of 18 illegal verdicts.

The continuation of the hearing to consider the plea agreement is scheduled for August 24.
