Post-war Sarajevo has given birth to various types of scammers and swindlers. Few of them are exposed. The general public misery and darkness cry out for any light and hope. An atmosphere was created in which it was possible for some Moroccan charlatan to come to the city and take hundreds of thousands of marks from a maddened public by selling them ordinary water as a magical universal cure for every illness.

Public despair, omnipresent injustice and lawlessness have also enabled the emergence of scammers who falsely present themselves as fighters for the public good and, through such false representation, achieve financial gain in various ways and secure a comfortable life for themselves without working. If it happens that one of them is publicly exposed, they flee to one of the Western countries and, by lying about the nature and type of their endangerment in BiH, seek, no less, no more than - political asylum. The competent services of Western countries seriously analyze the submitted request and attached documentation. A thorough questioning of the asylum seeker follows. This procedure involves a stay of several months in quarantine, with total restriction of movement for the person submitting the request. The interrogations are maximally professional, precise, and in-depth, so there is little chance for a Balkan scammer to get what they are looking for, to achieve their life ideal: "Lie down, bread, so I can eat you!" After the professionals recognize the deceptions, shortcomings, and even forgeries in the documents, the lies about endangerment and status in their homeland, the respective failed candidates do not return from where they came, but continue their lives there and in the way their travel documents (with multiple passports!) allow, and in accordance with their skill in deceiving the naive public. The victims are noble people from the diaspora, eager and willing to help their homeland and anyone in need. And it is precisely there that those who skillfully and convincingly lie that the corrupt government in their homeland has wronged them are found first and fastest.

Just these days, one such case has been recorded - an attempt to defraud the official bodies of a strong European country, with the main actor being a person known for years to visitors of Sarajevo's nightclubs. After a failed attempt at deception, the person organizes individuals and groups who will, in various ways - including using social services - continue their fraudulent work of taking money from the naive public and well-meaning people. It is horrifying, and shocking to those in the know, that among the people supporting this type of harmful business are several - obviously severely deceived! - respected Sarajevo public figures! - Diaspora patriots are advised to exercise maximum caution, or, even better: avoid contact completely.
