Abdić's battle for a party-tailored budget, financial blockade in Velika Kladuša

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - There is no longer the strength to impeach the Mayor of Velika Kladuša, Fikret Abdić, said Razim Halkić, president of the Cantonal Board of the SDP of the Una-Sana Canton.

To initiate the impeachment procedure against the mayor, a majority of 15 votes was secured, but everything fell through when Ibrahim Kajtazović-Bato, a councilor of the SDP who was subsequently expelled from the party, did not attend the Municipal Council session on November 24.

The possibility of continuing talks among councilors from SDA, NES, Naša stranka, DNZ, and some independents about the impeachment was then mentioned, but it is clear that Abdić's removal will not happen.

In the Municipal Council of Velika Kladuša, no one now has a majority, which is particularly evident in the failure to adopt an important financial decision – the one on the temporary financing of the Municipality for the first three months of this year. The Municipality still does not have a budget, and until one of these two documents is adopted, there will be no salaries.

The SDA announces that they will not support the decision on temporary financing because the mayor can put into procedure the budget for which a public hearing has been held. Their goal is to prevent the budget from again serving one party instead of the citizens.

The issue of temporary financing of the Municipality of Velika Kladuša will be discussed today, when a session of the Municipal Council is scheduled. On its agenda is a request from Mayor Fikret Abdić to review the conclusion of the Municipal Council from the previous session, held in mid-January, when the decision on temporary financing was rejected.

Until the budget or the decision on temporary financing is adopted, the Municipality will be in a blockade, and this could last until April 1, because only on March 31 can the mayor himself declare the budget.
