(Patria) - President Mahmoud Abbas last night called on United States President Joe Biden to intervene immediately to stop the Israeli "genocide" against the Palestinian people, which is ongoing and has "so far resulted in 42,000 civilian casualties, predominantly children and women".
In a televised statement broadcast by Palestinian TV, Abbas called on Biden, given his international status and significant influence on Israel, to intervene immediately to stop the Israeli "aggression", reported the Palestinian agency Wafa.
Abbas called on Biden to pressure for the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, stop the attacks of Israeli forces, and put an end to the "terrorism" of settlers against the Palestinian people in the West Bank and Jerusalem, warning that these facts herald an imminent "explosion" of the situation.
Abbas emphasized that the Palestinian people deserve to live in their homeland freely and with dignity. He promised to remain steadfast on their land until they achieve their legitimate rights to independence and statehood, with Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.
"Stop the genocide against our people," Abbas concluded in his appeal to Biden.
