Abazović: If the budget is not passed, the Government of Montenegro will fall

(Patria) - Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro Dritan Abazović (URA) spoke in an interview for Podgorica's Vijesti about the potential fall of the Montenegrin government, emphasizing that it could happen in case the budget is not passed.

Abazović said that the Civic Movement URA supports the current government and that the idea of an expert government originated from a group of people gathered around URA.

"However, we cannot close our eyes if this Government has a problem with the parliamentary majority. If, for example, we reach a situation where someone does not want to pass our budget, where they reintroduce temporary financing, we cannot close our eyes to that. We must know that without a functional parliament and a functional majority - our hands are tied," Abazović said in an interview for vijesti.me.

He emphasized that the adoption of the budget is a major test for the Montenegrin government.

"If the budget does not pass, then this parliamentary majority officially no longer exists. There is no philosophy in that. Whether that will lead us to elections, to something else, I don't know, but the budget is a big test. The Government has made, in my humble opinion, a good budget, and URA will support the budget it proposes," stated the Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro.

When asked if he would support the initiative of Đukanović's DPS to vote no confidence in the government, scheduled for January 3, Abazović was clear.

"URA will not support the DPS initiative because URA has previously stated that it will not support it and that nothing extraordinary has happened to change that stance towards the Government. URA has a correct stance towards the Government, you have seen how baseless the claims are that some MP of GP URA or someone else will vote, that DPS has secured 41 votes, etc. Where are those 41? Has that Monday, which was so anticipated, arrived?" he points out.

Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro Dritan Abazović also commented on his visit to Washington, emphasizing that he soon expects surprises that will also affect the resolution of the political crisis in Montenegro.

"We did a great job for Montenegro in Washington. I stand by the fact that what we discussed with our partners will be realized. It concerns the fight against high-level corruption. I expect good news and pleasant surprises," concluded Abazović.
