27 years since the biggest mining disaster in BiH: 180 miners killed in the Dobrnja-Mramor mine

On this day, August 26, 1990, in the Dobrnja-Mramor mine, a few hours after midnight, a terrible explosion, the cause of which has still not been fully resolved, killed 180 miners, the youngest shift of this mine.

All those who descended into the pit that evening, except for Smajlo Imamović, who suffered serious injuries but survived, lost their lives, and the citizens of Tuzla and surrounding areas showed their grief and sympathy at their funeral, the largest Tuzla had ever seen.

They left behind 365 children, and it is difficult to describe all the sorrow and pain that enveloped the Tuzla region, as well as the entire former country, during those days.

In memory of this mining and human tragedy, every year at the Kreka mines, with the presence of representatives of local authorities, tribute is paid to the fallen miners, in the hope that a similar tragedy will never happen again.
