20 dead, 50 injured in suicide bombing in Kabul

(Patria) – At least 20 people were killed and 50 injured in a suicide attack and exchange of fire at the office of presidential candidate Amrullah Saleh in Kabul.

Saleh was also lightly injured in the attack.

Afghan forces killed three militants who stormed Saleh's office after a suicide bomber detonated himself during rush hour in Kabul.

The operation lasted 6 hours, during which 150 civilians were rescued.

No militant group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack, which occurred just hours after Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and his rival Amrullah Saleh officially launched their campaigns for the elections scheduled for September 28.

The security situation is constantly deteriorating across the country; the Taliban and ISIS carry out attacks on Afghan forces, government officials, and civilians almost daily, reports the British Guardian.
