13 MONTHS IN PRISON: Defendant Jackson Ndip Pleaded Guilty

(Patria) - Defendant Jackson Ndip, born in 1968 in Cameroon, residing in France where he is in the asylum process, in the presence of his attorney, fully pleaded guilty to the criminal offense of people smuggling and organizing a group or association for smuggling migrants under Articles 189 and 189a of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Pursuant to the agreement, for the defendant who is in custody, a prison sentence of 13 months was proposed, as well as the confiscation of illegal property gain in the amount of 5,000 euros.

Also, the defendant will be deprived of travel documents of the French Republic, issued in the names of other persons, and travel documents of Cameroon, which were used in the attempt to smuggle citizens of Cameroon, via Bosnia and Herzegovina, towards EU countries.

The proposed sentence is in line with the role and responsibility of the defendant in the commission of this criminal offense.

By signing the agreement, the defendant waives the right to trial and the right to appeal the judgment, which will be imposed on him by the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina based on the agreement.

Defendant Jackson Ndip was discovered and prosecuted when the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with partner police and security agencies, conducted an operation code-named “Cameroon”, against persons suspected of having organized the smuggling of illegal migrants by misusing personal documents of the French Republic, in which they were discovered and prevented in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The agreement has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
