Zvizdić and Vučić: The goal is for trade exchange between BiH and Serbia to reach two billion euros

After the meeting of Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić in the building of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH with members of the collegia of both houses of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH and the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Denis Zvizdić, a press conference was held.

Zvizdić emphasized that BiH and Serbia are immediate neighbors and share the same geographical space and the same intentions when it comes to the European Union.

- Regarding the Council of Ministers, strengthening economic relations is certainly our priority. Serbia is among BiH's top partners, and we have noted that with some projects, especially infrastructural ones, we can enhance economic cooperation, and these are the priorities we will focus on. We also agreed to hold the next joint session by the end of this year, but we have not set an exact date.

The host, as is customary, will be the Government of Serbia. By then, we will implement some things from the first session. Integrating our economic space is also a priority. Each country in the Western Balkans is small individually, but if we offer joint projects, we can be a very attractive region for large investors. President Vučić discussed important topics with the Presidency yesterday, namely the border issue, and there is a willingness to resolve this problem – said Zvizdić.

He pointed out that two billion euros is the goal for the economic exchange between Serbia and BiH, which implies numerous activities in this regard, and this is one of the most important conclusions of today's meeting between the President of Serbia and the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH.

Vučić, in his address to journalists after the two-day visit, thanked all his hosts in Sarajevo. He emphasized that the goal is for the trade exchange between the two countries to reach two billion euros.

- Denis has already said that our goal is to achieve a trade exchange of 2 billion euros. We will fight for it, and we have discussed several concrete measures. We also talked about certain energy issues, which must also be discussed at the entity level. We managed to change the topic and move beyond talking about hatred. We are looking to the future. The arrival of Zvizdić and the BiH government in Serbia is expected in November. BiH is the country in the region with which we have the largest trade exchange, and it is our most important partner – said Vučić.

He added that he is grateful to Zvizdić for mentioning the abolition of barriers and non-tariff charges, which burden the businesses of both countries.

- We did not delve into the sometimes real, sometimes metaphysical relations between Croats, Bosniaks, and Serbs. It is important that our focus is on the future; we do not have to forget the past, no one is asking anyone to do that, but we must look to the future. I want to say, first of all, to the Bosnian media, that there is no need to make Serbia a bogeyman; we are a friendly country, and try to put yourselves in our shoes sometimes – added Vučić.
