I decided to get involved in politics because that's where decisions are made, said Muamer Zukorlić, holder of the Sandžak Bosniak Democratic Community list, in the show "Kažiprst", reports the news agency Patria.
Regarding the criticism for freezing his mufti title, Zukorlić said:
"They used to tell me to take off the mufti's hat and step into the ring, now that I've taken it off - panic."
Zukorlić stated that as a mufti, he had done a lot for the community, such as opening kindergartens, a university, and several high schools.
"I decided to get involved in politics because that's where decisions are made that concern those institutions I gave to my people. That is why I believe it is important to make my entire resource, work, and experience of a quarter of a century available to my people, as well as to all citizens of Serbia," Zukorlić stated.
He also said that he would offer SNS leader Aleksandar Vučić to join the government.
"I will make my resource available, the legitimacy I gain in the elections. If I want to do this seriously, then I don't want to be an observer. Whether Vučić will accept this offer does not depend solely on me, and for us to enter this, principles must also be accepted," said Zukorlić.
Zukorlić also stated that Rasim Ljajić and Sulejman Ugljanin have done enough for Bosniaks and that it is time to leave that position to someone else.
