Zoran Milanović sworn in as President of the Republic of Croatia

ZAGREB, (Patria) - The inauguration of the new Croatian President Zoran Milanović was held today at Pantovčak in Zagreb. In front of guests and in the presence of former Croatian President Kolinda Grabar Kitarović, the inauguration began with the performance of the RS anthem, and Milanović took the oath of office as President of the Republic of Croatia before the President of the Constitutional Court Miroslav Šeparović. Milanović was accompanied by his wife Sanja.

After signing the oath, Milanović gave a speech in which he said: "This is a house for us, for all of us!

At the beginning of his speech, he thanked all those present, and above all those who held this office before him, and who were elected by Croatian citizens.

"All of them, in their own time and given circumstances, did their best, each in their own way, but I am convinced with one common denominator, and that is good faith. One of the leading thinkers of our time said these days that the future of true, Western, liberal democracy can only be secured by keeping the truth independent of the wishes of the majority of voters, as well as the wishes of the majority of voters independent of the truth," he continued, adding that elections are not a method for finding truth or absolute truth. Elections are a method for achieving a peaceful compromise between the numerous desires of different people," said Milanović.

He said that he wants to be a constructive factor, dedicated to elements of national security, and in foreign policy, he will focus on cooperation and prosperity. He said that it is an obligation that no citizen of the Republic of Croatia feels insecure, discriminated against, or feels different for any reason.
