(Patria) - We received a promise that the Flower of Srebrenica will be placed in the garden in front of the UN, stated the president of the Association of Mothers of the Srebrenica and Žepa Enclaves, Munira Subašić, in an interview with "Jedan".
She announced that the Resolution on Srebrenica could soon be on the agenda of the UN General Assembly.
Protecting the verdicts of the Hague Tribunal
Subašić reminds that due to Russia's veto, the Resolution on Srebrenica was not adopted by the United Nations Security Council in 2015, and expects that such a resolution could be adopted by the UN General Assembly.
The resolution, she says, would help prevent the insult of mothers and protect the integrity of the verdicts of the Hague Tribunal.
- It would mean a lot to us, and also to those who do not know the true truth. We know that young people in both Serbia and the Republika Srpska entity still do not know the true truth. It would be good to protect the verdicts that were delivered by the Hague Tribunal.
Secondly, for us mothers to be protected, so that we are no longer insulted. What happened in '95, no eraser in the world can erase it - says this Srebrenica mother.
Subašić is not sure when lawsuits will be filed in which the victims' families would seek compensation from Serbia, but, as she claims, some lawyers have suggested to them that proceedings can be initiated immediately.
We have arguments
- We know which are the points from the verdict against Simatović and Stanišić. The International Court of Justice stated that Serbia is responsible for not preventing, and the army and police of Republika Srpska committed genocide.
We have arguments, we have evidence, crime never expires, and we will see what our lawyers say. If they say to proceed, we will proceed - said Subašić.
She emphasizes that the Chief Prosecutor of the BiH Prosecutor's Office, Milenko Kajganić, told her that some things are not legally well-resolved for criminal proceedings for genocide denial to be initiated.
Nevertheless, Subašić points out that the amendments to the Criminal Code of BiH on the prohibition and punishment of genocide denial, proclaimed by the former High Representative Valentin Inzko, have yielded results.
- Many have been silenced. I don't know if you as media have noticed, perhaps only two or three are left denying genocide.
We discussed this with the High Representative. He promised us, both in Srebrenica and me at a meeting in Sarajevo, that he would bring some experts from Germany who would talk with the Prosecutor's Office about how and in what way to file a lawsuit - said Subašić.
