SLOVENIA POSTPONES 5G NETWORK DEPLOYMENT DUE TO IMPACT ON PEOPLE AND ENVIRONMENT

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Slovenian government has removed the strategy of the regulatory agency AKOS on the distribution of frequency spectrum for 5G from the agenda, thus halting the introduction of this technology.

This was done at the proposal of the Minister of Public Administration, Rudi Medved, who stated for Slovenian media that "questions about the harmfulness of 5G technology are legitimate".

Slovenia is the first country in the world to constitutionally protect water as a human right and public good, thereby ensuring that its sources of drinking water, as perhaps the most important strategic resource in the future, remain a national asset.

By postponing the discussion on the approval of frequency spectrum for 5G, until the effects of this technology on the population and the environment are investigated, a further step has been taken in protecting health and preserving nature.

In Slovenia, there are strong environmental associations advocating for "človeku prijazno tehnologijo" (technology friendly to humans), and the Government clearly respects the view that, regardless of possible pressures from corporate sectors and the EU administration, it is extremely important to take adequate measures so that development and progress do not endanger human health and nature.
