(Patria) - For quality control over the care of patients suffering from influenza and due to a shortage of nurses at the General Hospital Dubrovnik, all elective surgeries and scheduled examinations will be temporarily suspended from January 23 in all departments, the Dubrovnik hospital announced on Tuesday, HRT reports.
According to director Mario Bekić, there are currently just over 50 patients hospitalized with influenza, and there is a shortage of 26 to 30 nurses.
"The shortage of nurses in our hospital has been a chronic problem for some time, and now we have a situation where there are more patients with influenza, so we have to merge departments," said Bekić, NAP reports.
