Highway to Ljubljana closed, thousands of households without electricity

(Patria) - Hundreds of firefighting interventions have been recorded in Slovenia since Thursday evening due to flash floods caused by heavy rainfall that has affected this part of Europe.

Three camps have been evacuated, and several villages have been cut off from the rest of the country.

Floods have affected Gorenjska, Koroška, and the Zgornjesavinjska valley. An orange alert has also been issued for Bosnia and Herzegovina today.

The highway to Ljubljana is closed due to flooding. Secondary roads are also flooded. A warning has also been issued to all travelers not to travel unless necessary.

In several areas across the country most affected by heavy rain, people have been left without electricity. The electricity supply is most threatened in Koroška and the Upper Savinja Valley. Electrical services, which are trying to reach difficult-to-access terrain, are urging citizens not to approach electrical installations.
