The coalition of civil society organizations "Prvi mart" has sent a complaint to the Human Rights Ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina, based in Banja Luka, due to the denial of the Bosnian and Croatian languages in schools in the entity of Republika Srpska, reports Patria.
Bosniak and Croat students living in the RS are being denied the right to learn the Bosnian and Croatian languages. The only language students can learn in schools in RS is the Serbian language. Legal experts have assessed this as a violation of the BiH Constitution and many international rights.
This problem in the RS has been ongoing for several years and was created by the authorities of this BiH entity in order to gain voter attention.
The complaint by "Prvi mart" states that in the Republika Srpska entity, students learning the Serbian language are placed in a privileged position compared to students learning the Croatian and Bosnian languages.
The responsible institution for resolving this issue is the Republican Pedagogical Institute of RS, or its director Predrag Damjanović – according to the correspondence from the "Prvi mart" Coalition, reports Patria.
