Zagreb police officers poisoned by food, some sought medical help

(Patria) - The Zagreb Police Department issued a statement today about mass poisoning of police officers in Zagreb.

As they say, at least eight police officers experienced discomfort after consuming food prepared in one of the restaurants of the Zagreb Police Department.

"The Zagreb Police Department was informed yesterday of at least eight officers who experienced health issues after consuming food prepared in one of the restaurants of the Zagreb Police Department.

Three police officers sought medical help, and for now we do not have information on whether any of the officers were hospitalised.

The information we currently have indicates that all officers who sought medical help consumed food prepared in the restaurant at Petrinjska 30 (both at the restaurant location itself and food delivered to the canteen at Nehajska 7).

Immediately upon learning of this, the restaurant's operations were suspended until further notice, food samples were prepared for analysis, and the sanitary inspection and the Institute of Public Health were notified of the incident.

An inspection of the service segment related to catering is underway, and in accordance with the findings, necessary measures will be taken.

Food is prepared in three restaurants of the Zagreb Police Department at locations: Petrinjska 30, Kruge 52, Heinzelova 98, and is also delivered to the canteen at Nehajska 7.

Food is transported to the canteen at Nehajska 7 from the kitchen at Petrinjska 30 using delivery vehicles, in designated containers.

Approximately 850 hot meals are prepared daily in all three restaurants.

Ingredients of the Zagreb Police Department are stored in a dry storage area, in refrigerators and freezers, separated by allergens and type of ingredient, all in accordance with the storage conditions indicated on the original declarations of the ingredients by the manufacturer. The procurement of ingredients is carried out by the Ministry of the Interior.

We emphasise that the Zagreb Police Department has no record of similar situations in the past period, and we have already taken all measures to determine the cause and continue providing services in a safe manner", the statement says.
