The Memorial Fund of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which protects the cemeteries of martyrs and fallen soldiers during the aggression against BiH, visited Croatia's largest site of mass suffering, Vukovar, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP).
Representatives of the Memorial Fund thus paid tribute to the civilians and soldiers killed during the Homeland War in the neighbouring country.
- The scars of the aggression against Croatia are without a doubt deepest and most painful in this city on the Danube. The Ovčara Memorial Home, as well as the Ovčara mass grave itself, the Homeland War Memorial Centre located in the Vukovar barracks, and finally the Memorial Place of Remembrance - Vukovar Hospital 1991, are sites where the Fund delegation primarily paid tribute to the victims, and then through conversations with employees of these institutions exchanged experiences and methods to act as effectively as possible in preserving the achievements of the Homeland War, or in Bosnia and Herzegovina the Defence-Os Liberation War from the early 1990s, so that such a bitter experience would never be repeated for anyone again – stated the Memorial Fund.
The methods by which, the Fund further states, the Greater Serbian aggressor treated the citizens of Vukovar became a template on which the policy of creating a neo-fascist project called Greater Serbia was based, a policy that the aggressor later applied both to the civilians of Sarajevo and to civilians throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Fund states that the link between the Memorial Fund and institutions in Vukovar is the slogan they use, which is: “So that it is not forgotten,” reports NAP.
