(Patria) - Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said today in Vranje, speaking also about the new People's Movement for the State, that he will not sign Kosovo's independence.
"I know what I swore an oath to, the Constitution of Serbia and the Miroslav Gospel. I will not be the one to sign their independence of Kosovo and Metohija. There is no surrender, we will not recognise independence either de facto or de jure," said Vučić.
He announced that the People's Movement for the State will be formed at the end of May or the beginning of June, calling on citizens in Vranje to join the movement for the future.
"I will be part of a team that will be above the party. That does not mean the party will be shut down. At a time when the situation in the world is like this, we need to gather all those people, both those who are and those who are not in parties, so that we can all unite and be ready for everything that is happening around us," said Vučić.
The Serbian President also stated that in the next two months he will work on the organisational form.
"I ask you, when it is formed at the end of May or the beginning of June, that is my request to you, to think about it and join that great People's Movement for the State," Vučić said.
He emphasised that the formation of the Community of Serbian Municipalities is the only international obligation undertaken 10 years ago, as stipulated by four documents.
Asked by an Albanian journalist whether it seems there is not much progress in the Brussels talks, because Kurti said that the CSM can hardly be formed since the constitution of the state of Kosovo does not allow it, and that it is unlikely he will accept the Franco-German proposal, and whether he perhaps sees a solution in an exchange of territories or demarcation, Vučić said:
"When I tried to resolve something, you all jumped on my back. It is important that previous agreements are fulfilled. You ask whether I will fulfil something I did not sign; well, you fulfil what you signed and what is an undertaken international obligation, and the only international obligation undertaken 10 years ago is the CSM and four documents related to the CSM," said Vučić.
Vučić said that it is not up to Albin Kurti whether he will fulfil what is an international obligation, but that it is a matter for the EU and all signatories.
"In 2015, I signed the principles that speak about that, I signed 22 principles, and before that Dačić signed, and Thaçi and Mustafa signed, depending on which agreement. In all of that, the EU's signature always stands. Surely that is to be fulfilled? He says, it's difficult, if it's difficult – I understood that too," emphasised Vučić.
