(Patria) - Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated today that he is "not falling into euphoria" over the results of the Montenegrin presidential election, in which the leader of the Europe Now movement, Jakov Milatović, defeated Montenegro's long-serving president, Milo Đukanović.
Vučić assessed that the policies pursued by Đukanović and the authorities in Belgrade "differed in almost everything" and that it would be good for both countries if bilateral relations improved.
- I am not falling into euphoria, as Serbs often do. We saw how it turned out with (Zdravko) Krivokapić, and we will see how it will be with Milatović - Vučić said.
Asked about assessments that Đukanović's defeat suggests that he himself will lose power, Vučić said that he does not have to "fall from power," but that he will step aside on his own.
- Leave Vučić alone, it is much worse that Serbia must be the one constantly accused, even though it is not guilty of anything.
There is no important figure in Sarajevo who did not support Đukanović, no one said that Pristina also did so, and almost all Balkan countries did.
Serbia, on the other hand, did not interfere in the electoral process in Montenegro, but behaved responsibly and correctly - Vučić insists.
