A session of the Serbian Government was held in Belgrade, after which Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić held a press conference, stating that the goal of The Hague was reconciliation, and that court did not fulfill that basic goal and only hammered nails into the coffin of the sleeping Balkans, reports the BH News Agency Patria. He also commented on the acquittal of Vojislav Šešelj.
Vučić said that he has no problems with Vojislav Šešelj, but with his policy, which he will fiercely oppose.
- Precisely when we are opening new chapters with the EU and when we have managed to reduce the deficit... new turbulent political events followed at that moment. Serbia is at a crossroads, politically, economically, and morally. After years consumed by wars, predatory privatizations, corruption, and recession, we have managed to stop the country's further decline and improve its reputation both in the region and in the world - said Vučić.
He called on citizens to consider whether they want stability or a return to a time long past.
Vučić also said that "we, the citizens of Serbia, will find it difficult to accept that others respect our sacrifices as we respect them" and, as he said, we must learn that our tears have parents only in our country and "it remains for us to remember our victims, to bow to them, and that is our obligation to be different from those whose sermons we listen to every day".
- Our obligation is to be different from those who lecture us and to respect both Muslim and Croatian victims and to understand the pain of others as the pain of our mothers - said the Prime Minister.
He also stated that he will do everything for the stability of the region and announced that he will go on the announced visit to Mostar in mid-April.
When asked how he commented on the entry ban for Šešelj into Croatia and Kosovo, Vučić said that it is "probably popular for Serbia to be a punching bag and that they can always make whatever decision they want".
- I hope everyone will calm down the hysteria, because we are not hysterical. We will always behave in a way that protects the rights of Serbian citizens, which Šešelj is, regardless of the fact that we disagree with his policy - said Vučić.
When asked by journalists what he thinks today about "Greater Serbia", which is also a question from the non-governmental sector, Vučić said: "Greater Serbia is not a policy of the future, and it is not the policy of this Serbian Government - said Vučić.
