Vučić spoke with Putin: We will be alone in Berlin

BEIJING, (Patria) - Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Beijing today, discussing Kosovo ahead of the Berlin Conference, which will be held on Monday in Berlin. The conference is jointly organized by German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron. Vučić also met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing.

After the meeting with Putin, Vučić told reporters that he will be "alone in Berlin" but that he is going with a strengthened position. 

"Our delegation will be completely alone on this issue there, and it will be the key topic of the summit itself. Our position is neither easy nor simple. But, after meeting with Xi and Putin, it seems to me that we have strengthened our friendship and a rational, realistic, and responsible approach to solving the Kosovo problem," said Vučić.

He also said that he received assurances from Putin that Russia will help and support Serbia and that Russia "will not allow anyone, in any way, to touch Serbia or, in any other sense, except politically, to attack our country."

Vučić said that everyone who recognized Kosovo's independence will be in Berlin.

"France and Germany, but also everyone from the region, not counting BiH, but among them Zvizdić, who would recognize Kosovo, according to Bakir Izetbegović, but cannot because of RS. Our delegation will be completely alone on this issue there, and it will be the key topic of the summit itself. Our position is neither easy nor simple," said Vučić.

We remind you that only Denis Zvizdić, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, was invited from BiH to Berlin. At the Balkan conference in Berlin, the focus of interest will be the relations between Serbia and Kosovo. Therefore, it is not surprising that the presidents and prime ministers of Serbia and Kosovo were also invited. Thus, Aleksandar Vučić and Hashim Thaçi, as well as Prime Ministers Ana Brnabić and Ramush Haradinaj, will travel to Berlin.

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković of Croatia, as well as Prime Minister Zoran Zaev of North Macedonia, will travel to this important conference from Croatia.

Albania will be represented by Prime Minister Edi Rama, and Slovenia by Prime Minister Marjan Šarec. The President of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović, will travel to Berlin from Montenegro. The President of the European Commission, Jean Claude Juncker, as well as the EU High Representative for Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, will also attend the conference in Berlin.
