Vučić: Problems can only be solved through dialogue and peaceful means

We will live with the Kosovo Albanians for the next thousand years, and therefore we need to cooperate for the benefit of both sides, to find the best possible political framework without harming our national interests, Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić said today, writes Tanjug, reports NAP.

- We must find solutions to certain issues. And as much as I know that it is unpopular in Serbia, we must understand that we live, if not with each other, then next to each other. And that we will live like that for the next thousand years, Vučić stated in a conversation with journalists in Brussels, after a meeting with the head of European diplomacy, Federica Mogherini.

- Whoever thinks that we should wage wars and enter into conflicts, I don't think they are very smart and that they wish our country well, added Vučić.

According to him, the issue of forming the Community of Serb Municipalities is the most difficult issue and the essence of the Brussels Agreement, but it is not easy for the Albanians to implement it at this moment.

The Prime Minister did not agree with the journalist's statement that the Brussels Agreement is a "dead letter on paper", although, as he said, it would be easy to say so, considering that 6 out of 15 points of the Brussels Agreement relate to the Community of Serb Municipalities, which has not yet been formed due to obstacles in Pristina.

- Do not forget that what we discussed, and what we signed, even what has not been implemented, we have had significantly fewer incidents between Serbs and Albanians on an annual level than we have in Belgrade between Serbs. This shows that the talks have yielded certain results, that people know that problems can only be solved peacefully, through dialogue, explained Vučić.

According to him, Serbia wants the best possible political framework, where it can also earn money, but without harming its national interests.

When asked about the statements of the Kosovo Minister of Foreign Affairs, Enver Hoxhaj, that he expects the demarcation of the border between Serbia and Kosovo to be one of the issues in the dialogue, the Prime Minister replied that he does not want to interfere in the statements of Pristina officials.

As he emphasized, their statements have nothing to do with the EU accession process and are intended for the internal needs of the Albanian population in Kosovo.

He added that teams from Belgrade and Pristina will meet soon to resolve some technical issues, such as the number of base stations for mobile operators.

- Technical matters remain to be agreed upon. We have a good agreement that is good for Serbs in Kosovo, but also for Albanians. Everyone is satisfied with this agreement, only technical issues remain, said Vučić.

Resolving these issues, he added, would be a good political signal, because "people in Serbia also need to understand that only through the synergy of good messages, policies, and image in Brussels, Moscow, Washington, Beijing, and other places, can you attract even more foreign investors".

- This will mean that the arrival of investors, factories, economic growth, GDP growth depends on this, not just on internal economic reforms. It is all interconnected, stressed Vučić, emphasizing that this is precisely why Serbia has been less unsuccessful or more successful than others in the past year and a half.

When asked if a high-level dialogue has been agreed upon, Vučić reiterated that there was talk about how to do concrete things, and that it is not a matter of meetings, but of how to solve problems.
