Vučić tells SPC: It is my job to conduct a policy of agreement in the interest of the state

BELGRADE, (Patria) - Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated that he did not expect the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) to have a different stance on Kosovo from the one presented by the Holy Synod of Bishops of the SPC, and noted that he has no problem with that, but that he will continue to speak the truth about the reality in Kosovo, Beta reports.

The Holy Synod of Bishops of the SPC announced today that at its annual session in Belgrade, it confirmed a "unanimous and unequivocal" stance that Kosovo and Metohija constitutes an integral part of the sovereign territory of Serbia.

For the SPC, any change in the status of Kosovo that leads to the recognition of Kosovo as an independent state or any variant of territorial division, without which demarcation is impossible, is unacceptable.

Vučić said that he did not come to the Synod session to ask for anything, but to answer questions from SPC members, and that he did not come to hide behind their robes.

"It is my job to conduct a policy of agreement in the interest of the state, to listen to you, not to criticize when you have a different stance, but to respond in a very responsible and proper manner," Vučić revealed what he told the bishops.

He says he knows what everyone in this country is against, but he has yet to hear from anyone what they are for, and that it has to do with reality.

"I only hear stories that Kačanik is the heart of Serbia. Can you go there and open any Serbian institution? There is no answer to that question. We will wait for years, five million years. Since everyone is playing dumb in Europe, the world, the Albanians, and here with us, I will play dumb too. That seems to be a policy that works well. I will play dumb as well, to rest from all the blackmail, threats, and pressures. As for losing money, investors, roads, and many other things - then don't ask me. I will say that because we are pursuing a policy of 'playing dumb'," he stated.
