Vučić explains to the nation: It was take it or leave it, we will continue talks

(Patria) - Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić is addressing Radio Television of Serbia after yesterday's new round of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina in Brussels.

Aleksandar Vučić said that yesterday in Brussels there was "one conversation" and announced that there will be more.

"There was one conversation, we did not agree, we will continue," Vučić said on the show "Takovska 10" on RTS.

He stated that the Franco-German plan has, as he said, become a European proposal in the meantime.

"This European Union plan came as an idea from Emmanuel Macron and Olaf Scholz, they brought a paper. They didn't ask anyone, there was no possibility for negotiations at all, they said take it or leave it... I have always told people the truth, and the text of the EU plan was adopted without any possibility of negotiation," he said.

He also stated that he was warned about the consequences of not accepting the proposal, including the halting of European integration and direct withdrawal of investments.

"Some of my team expected them to issue a statement that Kurti is not ready for the ZSO, and I knew that would not happen, but that they would fake it, that there would be some balanced message. People say that we did not react in any way, and that we did not submit remarks, which is not true," he said about yesterday's meeting.

"I told Scholz and Macron that we cannot discuss the recognition and entry of Kosovo into the UN."

He also stated that Serbia submitted a sharp and thorough response, a non-paper, to the European proposal, consisting of six typed pages. He added that this paper will go down in history and that "it is known what was rejected".

"When I talk about this, they came back with cosmetic changes and said either you take it or not. I want to tell all citizens, especially Serbs. Yes, I think it is important that we talk," said Vučić.

Vučić stated that in Munich he told Macron and Scholz that he could not discuss the recognition and entry of Kosovo into the United Nations.

"It was either to stay in the talks or to leave everything and end up like in the nineties with complete economic ruin, I said that Serbia is ready to work on the implementation of many things from the plan," said Vučić.

"Why do you think I didn't sign anything, which they said I would sign? You have a statement, I was surprised in the Assembly, the French citizen Miloš Jovanović posted on Instagram that I am a traitor who wants to sign the secession of Kosovo. Two days later, nothing has been signed in Brussels," said Vučić.

"I have nothing to hide, this is what was presented to us - do you want it or not"

The Serbian President also stated that Belgrade media published parts of the European proposal.

"I say I have nothing to hide, this is what was presented to us: 'Do you want it or not'. Borrell's statement is very vague, I was talking about the concept or framework. We are ready to discuss all topics, and that would lead to normalization," said Vučić.
