Vučić: They will not force us to recognise Kosovo's independence

(Patria) - Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated that he will face many pressures, and that they will use and abuse the situation, but that Serbia has something to lose.

- That is why they put the Albanians under sanctions, which are not that serious, and in doing so they are actually blackmailing Serbia, because we have something to lose - said Vučić.

Commenting on the fact that the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Milan Mojsilović, will talk tomorrow with the KFOR commander about security in Kosovo, Vučić said that he does not think the topic of that conversation will be anything more than that, because there is nothing else to talk about.

He pointed out that Serbia is constantly facing not only double standards, but also recklessly hypocritical behaviour.

- KFOR and NATO rightly invoke Resolution 1244 and they derive their mandate from that document, but when you ask them about other norms from that same resolution, they tell us – don't look at the past, but at the future - he said.

To that, he says, we, who are not big enough, must get used to it.

- And within the limits of what is possible, fight for the people and the country. There will be many important talks, each one is important to us, but essentially their goal is to force us, in one way or another, to fit into a legal framework, to recognise Kosovo's independence one way or another - Vučić pointed out.

Vučić emphasised that Serbia's position that it does not want to allow Kosovo to join the UN carries certain consequences.

- The threats months ago were not in vain... This will only continue and every day they will say how sanctions have been imposed on Kosovo, and then everyone demands that they be imposed on Serbia too... When we ask why, they say – because of Banjska. When you ask them what about the investigation into the attempted murder of Dragiša Galjak, Jovanović, what about the punishment of the perpetrator for the attempted murder of two children in Štrpce, there is no answer - said Vučić.

Asked whether he will sign anything, Vučić replied that he never will and stated that he has said this many times.

- I have already said a thousand times that I will not, and that in the most difficult places. I said that to the faces of Scholz, Macron and Meloni. Charles Michel, Borell and Lajčák were also there. I said it in front of the six of them. I told them that to their faces earlier as well - Vučić emphasised.

He added that Serbia had proposals to resolve the issue of missing persons from both the Serbian and Albanian sides, but Pristina does not want the families of the missing to come.

- Well, we are doing this for those families. We are doing this so that their loved ones can find lasting peace. So that they can know where they are buried. So that they can visit the graves. So that they can find out what happened. We are doing this for those families - said Vučić.
