Vučić after meeting in Brussels: No agreement

(Patria) - Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated after talks with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti in Brussels that for reasons unclear to him, they failed to reach absolutely any agreement on license plates.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated after talks with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti in Brussels that for reasons unclear to him, they failed to reach absolutely any agreement on license plates.

“The Serbian side was completely constructive and we accepted texts that were changed ten times, but the Albanian side did not want to accept anything for a second, they would always add something that was clearly impossible,” said Vučić, addressing reporters after the meeting in Brussels.

He said that Serbia will listen to the advice of EU High Representative Joseph Borrell, who requested that Pristina not impose penalties on owners of vehicles with Serbian license plates, and that Belgrade not issue new KM plates.

“We will respect that and behave accordingly, and we will see what the other side does,” said Vučić, adding that the Serbian side insisted that the signed agreements must be respected, which, as he pointed out, has been the stumbling block all along.

Pristina, on the other hand, wants, as he emphasized, to implement something that was not even discussed.

The president also said that he does not think “we have some great tragedy,” but he warned that “sleepless nights lie ahead” and that it will certainly not be easy in the coming period.

He also said that he now wants to gather all his impressions, that he has kept all the papers, and that he will address the citizens tonight or during the day tomorrow.

Vučić also took the opportunity to tell Serbs in Kosovo that the state will be with them.

Vučić and Kurti talked in Brussels as part of the high-level dialogue, which was convened by the EU in an attempt to prevent escalation and tensions on the ground.

Previously, both participated in separate meetings with the head of European diplomacy Borrell and the EU envoy for the Western Balkans Miroslav Lajčak.

Pristina announced on Sunday that it is postponing the issuance of fines for driving cars with Serbian “KM” plates for 24 hours. Although it was previously announced that the fines would start being issued on November 21, the start of this action was moved to November 22.
