Vučić after the Mladenovac massacre: We will carry out complete disarmament of Serbia

(Patria) - Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić addressed the public today after last night's massacre in Mladenovac, in which eight people were killed and 14 injured.

- For the second time in the last 48 hours, we have to address you, and every word we can utter is difficult and insufficient.

Along with the family members of the murdered children and security guards at the "Vladislav Ribnikar" school, I want to express my condolences on behalf of myself and the Government.

Parents are worried and scared

Last night, people were criminally murdered in the vicinity of Smederevo and Mladenovac. We are united in pain and sorrow - said Vučić.

According to him, this is an attack on the country, and every citizen feels it.

- If I were a proponent of conspiracy theories, I would have a lot to say, but since I am not, I will only announce the measures and facts and things that we will do.

After the murder of children, we were all in a state of shock, including those of us whose job it was to be sober. We walked around like zombies for 24 hours, not believing what happened, how and why.

After that, all parents across Serbia, and we have 505,247 students in Serbia, became worried and scared, which is a logical consequence.

A parent says, I have a child, I send them to school, I have to work and I expect them to be safe there. Then the devil appears without a shred of remorse and kills your children and security guards.

How will we calm the parents down, what can we do. There are several new measures - in the coming period, we will hire new police officers, we will send 1,000 police officers to be in schools, until we reach a level in a year where there is always someone in school.

We will not only achieve security, but we will also reduce peer violence in schools by 80 percent. That is a big thing - announced Vučić.

He points out that there will be 331 police officers in Belgrade - "they will sit in that school, and there will be more in the coming period.".

- We have made a significant addition to the measures announced yesterday. Last night's attack was a terrorist attack, where the SAJ had the task of arresting or neutralizing the terrorist.

The villain has been arrested and will never see the light of day again. He will not get out of prison. Strange things were happening around the boy, because he will be free tomorrow, since he cannot be held criminally responsible, as if nothing happened...

Stricter conditions for carrying weapons

The government will pass a conclusion instructing the Ministry of Internal Affairs to urgently and without procedures prepare amendments to the law on ammunition, which would tighten the conditions for carrying weapons.

To put it simply - all people who own weapons, which is about 400,000 people, will undergo a review. We will carry out the complete disarmament of Serbia.

The penalties for illegal weapons will be so high, let's see how you will do it like what happened yesterday - said Vučić.

He added that the conditions for the use of hunting weapons will also be tightened.

- The Ministry of Justice is instructed to tighten penalties for illegal, unauthorized possession and trafficking of weapons. For example, for a Kalashnikov, from two to 12 years.

And for bombs, grenades, up to 15 years in prison, and the minimum will be at least five years. Those who illegally possess weapons will also face five to 12 years - stated Vučić, reports Nova.rs.

He emphasizes that this has nothing to do with political parties - "we will have to win together for our grandmothers or grandfathers".

- From Monday or Tuesday, we will have to continue to live and work and systematically defeat ourselves. We have reduced the number of weapons from 950,000 to seven hundred and something thousand, but that is not enough.

I know there are many lobbies against this and that it is not politically good, but I don't care if they say this or that, I am a doctor.

No one is safe, no one - said Vučić, and once again thanked all members of the Ministry of Internal Affairs who participated in the pursuit of the killer last night.

- In the era of social networks, when yesterday we had 25 interventions in the territory of Serbia due to the irresponsible, terrible behavior of our youth imitating the killer. In addition, we have another 20 false reports.

Our police cannot manage to arrest everyone. And we must hold everyone accountable. Unlike some who knew where the killer was earlier and did not report it. They will also be held accountable, and the state will know how to confront villains - he emphasizes.

There will be justice

After the introductory address, he answered journalists' questions and said that the most important thing is to prevent the spread of lies.

- Some of these dark sites go into the past. Anyone who says that shooting is salvation, you go to prison nicely and explain there.

Since, you know, it is not in accordance with European standards to enter apartments and conduct searches, and it is not - well, now it will be. And we won't wait.

This morning you saw the case where a man was allegedly carrying a weapon. The case was resolved at 8:20 AM, and at 8:24 AM we received information that a person in black was moving down a street in Zvezdara with a rifle pointed at people.

We dispatched a large number of units with orders to liquidate him immediately. The report was false. Stick to official information, we are not killers, we are here to fight against killers... There will be justice, neither this little monster nor this bigger monster - said Vučić.

He emphasizes that last night he had more than 500 unverified news items.

- Wait until you get it on paper. They won't escape anywhere, unfortunately. But these monsters won't escape anywhere either and won't get out anywhere. Never. There will be justice. Neither the small one nor the big one monster.

To kill children and then walk around after two years... This morning I proposed the death penalty to Prime Minister Brnabić, but we cannot do that according to some very smart conventions, and I used to be against it, but I bitterly regret it.

Let's recall, Uroš B. (21) was arrested after an eight-hour manhunt in villages near Mladenovac, after he killed eight and injured 14 people with a firearm last night. The injured persons have been treated in hospitals.
