Vučić announced: Serbia will buy 'suicide drones'

(Patria) - Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić announced today that Serbia will sign its first contract with the United Arab Emirates within 48 hours for the purchase of suicide drones from that country.

Vučić also told reporters in Abu Dhabi that he "hopes" the first domestic suicide drones will arrive in the Serbian Army in five to six months.

- We will sign the first contract with the UAE within 48 hours for the purchase of their suicide drones, and they will be on Serbian territory very soon - announced Vučić, after touring the stands of the Serbian defense industry at the IDEX 2023 Arms and Military Equipment Exhibition in Abu Dhabi.

He adds that he expects an escalation of the conflict in Ukraine in the coming days, which, according to him, will further complicate Serbia's position, reports RSE.

- A challenging period lies ahead of us, it is clear from President Vladimir Putin's statements that he will continue very fiercely in Ukraine. I expect major changes on the battlefield in a few days and further political action towards Serbia from both the Western side and other international factors - emphasizes Vučić.
