Vučić: My plea to Serbs in northern Kosovo is to preserve peace

(Patria) - Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, in an address after the failed negotiations in Brussels, told Serbs in Kosovo that it is important to preserve peace. If they protest, to protest peacefully and democratically, to give our best to preserve peace, Vučić emphasized.

Vučić said he does not know when the next meeting in Brussels could take place, although Belgrade is always ready for talks, but if an agreement could not be reached on this today, then he does not know on what it can be reached.

Asked when the next meeting in Brussels will take place, he said he does not understand who could be bothered by what was proposed today.

"What then should we talk about, about mutual recognition which I say is not our policy? I am always ready to go and talk. It is necessary to build trust, so that we can talk. And we talked today, but sometimes you cannot talk," said Vučić.

He emphasized that Belgrade's decision is to always be ready for talks and that for us there is nothing more important than dialogue.

Vučić explained that when the Albanians insisted that everything be tied into a normalization agreement that should be reached quickly.

"We said 'no problem, you can write that too', but it must be stated that it must be implemented, that it is necessary to implement what has been signed, what already has legal force and what both parliaments have confirmed, something that is, it seems to me, the most normal thing in the world, which goes without saying. There is no one who will tell you anything different, not even in the EU, nowhere. Then when you get to that topic, you realize, they say 'well, that was signed by the former government' and you stop, you can pull out the little hair you have and you don't know what to do with yourself," emphasized Aleksandar Vučić.

He stated that in the end, despite all his concern, he will do everything he can and that talks with representatives of the international community will continue and that Belgrade will always be ready for a compromise solution and continuation of talks.

The president tells all citizens that Serbia will be committed to peace, that it will carefully make decisions about every move.

He tells the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija that there is one thing they never have to worry about, and that is that the state of Serbia will do its utmost to ensure they are safe and secure.

"But, if someone thinks they can carry out the expulsion of our people, killing our people, wounding and everything else, it is my duty to repeat to them what I have said many times, with all reality and absolute seriousness I say, and unlike some others, I know what that means, that we will stand by our Serbian people and will not leave them in the lurch," Vučić said.

"Once again I ask the international community and Western powers that have influence on Pristina and who have always had that influence, to try to use it and, as they bring the acquaintance of rights, also try Mr. Kurti and others in Pristina, but at the same time try to all together preserve peace," said the Serbian President.

He noted that he is grateful to the EU representatives for their patience today due to the talks that lasted about seven or eight hours and because it is not easy to listen to people who think completely differently on most topics, and that often on one side there is no serious desire for compromise.

President Vučić said that his plea to Serbs from northern Kosovo will be to preserve peace.

"I know that a large number of people are not even interested in what I am talking about in Serbia, and our people in Kosovo and Metohija must be aware of that. We must try to show that we never wanted conflicts for a second. Not to use others' insolence, arrogance and arrogance, but to avoid conflicts to the utmost. That if they protest, they protest peacefully and democratically, we give our best to preserve peace and, as far as we are concerned, Serbia will respect this request of Josep Borrell, we will not issue new ones, we will not even renew license plates in the coming period, and as you see Pristina, his request after the statement of the spokesman of the so-called Kosovo police clearly shows that it respects nothing," said Vučić.

He added that tomorrow from the first shift follows a difficult period and many sleepless nights, and that "we must be concerned, but there is no reason for panic."

"We must be concerned because when you deal with irresponsible people who play with the lives of other people's children, with such ease. Today I saw how many times Josep Borrell warned the representative of Pristina and told him: We have intelligence data, there will be big problems. We just received the latest intelligence data, the situation is very difficult, literally on the brink of conflict," Vučić emphasized.
