(Patria) - Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated that Serbia will overcome the health crisis caused by the coronavirus in less than two months, provided that citizens behave in a disciplined manner and in accordance with the decisions of the Government of Serbia.
Vučić said that he is still not sure whether the state will have enough ventilators for its needs, but that Serbia will do "everything necessary" and that it is "managing" to secure additional medical supplies.
Appearing on TV Prva, Vučić did not rule out measures that involve the purchase of equipment in a non-transparent manner, but said that his previous statement that the state used "black funds" to procure ventilators worldwide was poorly formulated.
"Do you think we brought truckloads of food to Kosovo while respecting all the rules? For me, it is important that (in that process) no one steals a single dinar... And for me to tell you that every procedure was respected," said Vučić, adding "who knows where we would be" if a Serbian citizen had not given his warehouse in Shanghai to the state.
He also added that he will ask the expert team that came from China, although they were initially supposed to stay only two weeks, to stay longer.
He also said that thousands of citizens and thousands of pensioners violate the curfew every day, and that the data published by Police Director Vladimir Rebić that 120 people do the same every day is only "the number of those who were caught".
