Vučić realized the reality, but did not dare to call Dodik to Belgrade

Extraordinary parliamentary elections are being held in Serbia today, and Nataša Kandić, director of the Humanitarian Law Fund from Belgrade, told the Patria News Agency that the current First Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, will most likely get the position of Prime Minister, which belongs to him due to his power in Serbia.

Regarding Vučić's attitude towards the region, Kandić believes that so far, from Vučić's side, there has not been much negative political rhetoric towards either BiH or Croatia, not even now when there are mutual lawsuits before the International Court of Justice.

- The future Prime Minister of Serbia has very clearly stated that he recognizes, respects, and values the integrity of BiH. I personally think that when the protests in BiH began, he should not have called Milorad Dodik from RS for any kind of conversation; it made no sense, just as it made no sense for Prime Minister Zoran Milanović to go to Mostar, but everything else is quite well-known – Kandić told NAP.

She further noted that there are no negative aspects and that one cannot expect a return to the rhetoric of the 90s.

- I think Vučić is trying to minimize past hostility and admit that relations cannot be extremely close, but they will be correct and respectful. As for BiH, it is important that new relations between Serbia and Republika Srpska do not develop or begin separately from BiH, and I see no indications that this could happen. The relationship between state and state must remain, and I believe it will – Kandić added.

Given that many in BiH believe that a leopard cannot change its spots, referring to Vučić's statements and behavior in the 90s, Kandić believes that this is outdated and that such rhetoric should not be repeated.

- We all know what Vučić said in the 90s, but we also know what he did. During the time he has been in power, he has shown greater courage and determination with the most complicated Serbian issue, which is Kosovo. He has shown that he understands what reality is and that he does not support political narratives about the cradle and heavenly Serbia, and that he is taking responsibility to acknowledge reality – Kandić added.
