Vučić and Nikolić: No support for RS referendum

The meeting held today by the President and Prime Minister of Serbia, Tomislav Nikolić and Aleksandar Vučić, with officials from RS was first left by Vučić after an hour and a half, after which he did not make any statements, Serbian media report, Patria agency conveys.

It was soon announced that Nikolić and Vučić did not provide support for holding a referendum in Republika Srpska (RS), but they did not wish to influence the change of political views of legitimately elected politicians in RS regarding the holding of the referendum in any way.

Nikolić and Vučić emphasized that Serbia's policy is to respect the territorial integrity of BiH, as well as the integrity of the entity of Republika Srpska.

Vučić and Nikolić condemned the organized attacks coming from certain countries in the region against Serbia and the Serbian people, as well as the hypocritical silence and the creation of false symmetries and balances by a significant part of the international community.

The topics of discussion were the newly emerged situation after the conclusions of the Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council, which called on the authorities of RS not to hold the referendum on September 25 regarding January 9.

Nikolić and Vučić met with the BiH Presidency member Mladen Ivanić, RS President Milorad Dodik, RS Prime Minister Željka Cvijanović, and the President of the Serbian Democratic Party Mladen Bosić.
