Vučić: Our goal is to preserve peace and stability and protect our national state interest

Following a meeting in Belgrade with political representatives from RS, Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić told reporters that Serbia did not contribute in any way to the filing of the request for revision of the verdict in the lawsuit filed by BiH against Serbia in The Hague, reports Patria.  

- Today, 22 years after Dayton, many people unfortunately live in the past and live off the past. Some people have a very narrow view of the future. Serbia, namely the president and I, have never interfered with the decision of the representatives of Serbs in RS to make one decision or another.

For us, the fundamental problem is the fact that our relations have been set back 22 years by this. And the little trust we managed to build today is clearly gone. Because if you want to file a lawsuit against a neighboring country, which you know you cannot win, and if you have 1.2 million Serbs in BiH who disagree with it, it shows the extent of our problems.  

Our job is to preserve peace. To respond to their lawsuit, so that their lawsuit does not yield results, to protect our national state interest. As for Serbia, we will always respect the integrity of BiH, as well as RS, but what is our primary goal today is that we have no right to allow Serbia to be humiliated, and we will not allow that to anyone. The goal is to preserve peace and stability, and anything beyond that is good if we succeed, said Vučić.

Responding to a reporter's question whether he knew that Bakir Izetbegović would do this, Vučić said:

- I did not expect Bosniaks to do this. I found out a month ago. I believed and still believe that this is a wrong move for the relations between Bosniaks and Serbs, that it was not well-measured and considered, and that it damages our relations. I think this does not bring good to either Bosniaks or Serbs.
