SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Moscow will carefully monitor Serbia's "Platinum Wolf" military exercise in cooperation with NATO member states, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov announced.
"If we are talking about exercises, we will certainly monitor them very carefully," Peskov said at a press conference.
He believes that the authorities in Belgrade are currently under unprecedented pressure to lead Serbia towards those who hold anti-Russian positions.
"We know that Belgrade is currently under heavy unprecedented pressure," Peskov emphasized.
The Ministry of Defence of Serbia announced yesterday that joint exercises with Alliance members will be held on the territory of Serbia from June 16 to 30, despite the moratorium on any international exercises adopted by the Government. According to the Ministry, the exercises are an exception to the moratorium, which is still in force, TASS writes.
The "Platinum Wolf" exercises have been held at the "Jug" military base near Bujanovac, in central Serbia, since 2014. The goal of the exercises is to improve operational interaction and mutual understanding between partner countries at the tactical level during peacekeeping operations.
Soldiers will also work on tactical maneuvers and actions using non-combat equipment.
