FBiH Government: Misinterpretation of EUROSTAT data on minimum wage

(Patria) - Given the misinterpretation of "Eurostat" data on the minimum wage by certain media outlets, from which they maliciously drew the headline "how the workers in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina are the poorest in all of Europe", the FBiH Government has issued a statement for accurate and truthful information.

"Let us remind you that "Eurostat" conducts research for countries, and that "Eurostat statistics take into account EU member states and candidate countries, thus not including BiH, which does not yet have candidate status".
By citing the data on the guaranteed minimum wage in the Federation of BiH (406 KM) and the Republika Srpska (520 KM), it leads to the incorrect conclusion "that workers in the Federation of BiH are the poorest in Europe".

We note that in addition to the guaranteed minimum wage, non-taxable allowances (meal allowance, transport, etc.) in the amount of 195 KM are paid to workers in the Federation of BiH, bringing the guaranteed minimum wage in the Federation of BiH to 601 KM, which is 81 KM more than the guaranteed minimum wage in the Republika Srpska. A few years ago, the FBiH Government submitted the Law on Contributions and the Law on Income Tax to the parliamentary procedure. With the adoption of these laws, there will be an automatic increase in minimum wages, and then we will get a much clearer picture of the real minimum wage, i.e., it will show that it will be significantly higher than the current 406 KM," the FBiH Government announced.
