Firefighters continue to battle blaze in Osijek

(Patria) - Firefighters continue to battle a large fire that broke out yesterday at the plastic processing plant "Drava International" in Osijek. This morning, smoke turned towards the city.

- A lot is still burning, and the wind direction is currently unfavorable for Osijek as the smoke is now heading towards the city.

Given that we have construction machinery, we will try to bury the fire site with earth today, if the temperature here allows us.

The night passed peacefully and everything is fine, and firefighters were extinguishing the peripheral areas the entire time - Goran Ivković, commander of the Osijek Public Firefighting Unit, told Glas Slavonije.

Let us remind you, three firefighters were injured yesterday during the intervention, and one who fell into a manhole full of liquid plastic is still fighting for his life.

Primary schools in Antunovac, Ernestinovo, and Laslovo, and branch schools in Ivanovci, Šodolovci, as well as the Agricultural and Veterinary High School in Osijek will not hold classes today.
